The Meaning of Mary Magdalene: A Path of Conscious Love Cynthia Bourgeault and Ken Wilber There is a beautiful, timeless secret hidden within the Christian tradition. This secret has been lying dormant for ages, sitting right beneath our noses, hiding in plain sight. Want to know the secret? Jesus Christ taught a spiritual path. Now, at first that might not sound all too revelatory. Jesus Christ is one of history's greatest spiritual teachers, you might say—of course he taught a spiritual path. But if you pause for a moment and reflect upon your own experience of the Christian tradition, there is a very good chance that you've never actually learned a spiritual path at all. Instead, you most likely learned that Jesus Christ WAS the path—that is, simply believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is enough to get you through the pearly gates, and any actual contemplative practice or efforts toward personal development are essentially just extra credit. Cynthia doesn't quite see it that way. Her experience of Christ's teachings has been anything but passive. In her mind, there is a very real and very powerful path here. It is a path of conscious love that ignited over two thousand years ago from the radical intimacy shared between Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ. It is a path that ribbons through the blood and pulp of our human hearts, leading us beyond our shared humanity to the timeless core of all things. Cynthia is here to help illuminate this path for the rest of us, and we could not be more grateful. We hope you enjoy this enlightening dialogue.
