On Saturday, July 15th, leading Integral Medicine visionaries convened at the Loft for an afternoon discussion that has given life to Integral Training’s newest seminar. The following people were in attendance:
-Larry Dossey—Clinician, author of 9 books and leader in energy medicine
-Barbara Dossey—Author of 7 books and leading authority on Integral nursing
-Larry George and Karen Wyatt—Co-Directors of the Center for Integral Medicine at Integral University
-Marilyn Schlitz--Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and senior scientist at the Geraldine Brush Cancer Research Institute at the California Pacific Medical Center
-Jim Duffy—President of the Institute of Religion and Health at Texas Medical Center and professor at Weill Cornel Medical School
-Glenna Crooks—Author and President of Strategic Health Policy International
-John Astin—Integral medicine researcher and former professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine
-Tom Goddard—President of Integral Healthcare Solutions
-Christopher Cooke and Alina Hernandez-Cooke—Founders of 5 Deep Integral, a global social network organization
-Jeff Soulen— Director of the Center for Healthcare Management at Integral University and licensed psychiatrist
-Malynn Utzinger—Clinician, co-founder of Lifeworks Integral and professor at University of Wisconsin Madison
-Linda DiRaimondo—Psychiatrist and co-founder of Lifeworks Integral
Present in awed silence for the majority of the meeting, I listened as the conversation moved gracefully across a plethora of topics including: a vision for Integral Medicine, Integral Nursing, Integral Healthcare, Integral Managed Care, Integral Medical Research, healing the rift between doctors, nurses, and administrators, an integral lexicon for medicine, and the development of seminars for doctors, nurses, and managed healthcare administrators.
As the meeting concluded and we moved downtown for dinner, one thing presented itself clearly to me. If the future health and well being of this world has anything to do with either the Integral Vision or Integral Medicine then we have a fine road ahead of us with these folks leading the way.
Over the next year, the team will develop a 5-day seminar in Integral Medicine with the hope of delivering the first training in the fall of 2007. Stay tuned to www.integraltraining.org for the most up-to-date information.
