(The following is being posted according to Ken's generous offer. The posting of a submission doesn't imply that Ken or the editors of this site necessarily agree with any or all of it. Thanks, -Eds) Below is a poem I wrote about Ken, more or less a Pindaric ode, which was traditionally used in ancient Greece to celebrate philosophers (as well as generals, athletes, etc.). The structure is three stanzas of ten lines each, which represent thesis, antithesis, and synthesis, respectively. Or good news, bad news, integral news. So in the first stanza Ken's a bodhisattva, in the second one he's a bastard, and in the third one he's just Ken :-) In fact, this is my first Pindaric ode (damn you, Pindar!), so with that caveat, check it out and let me know what you think. Love & thanks, Wrench Ode to a Pilgrim Hail Ken Wilber, our world pandit! Who gave us post-metaphysical Spirit, Through tomes borne of luminous Grace Anchored in vision's hyperspace. Agape's many arms author several a time For this millennial Manjushri, Einstein of mind. On shoulders of giants East and West he stands, His work wrought by the Biggest of Hands. With critics blinded by Indigo's exhaust, You, a truth-teller, no matter the cost. But some cry of Buddhist sophistry and schism And lack of cowboy pragmatism, Or finicky Hollywood alliances, Or management not fit to run appliances, Or irksome "Wyatt Earpy" episodes, Instead fair criticism given those Who fell ill from orienting generalities, Leaving the bald-one-above-bibliographies Branded a fraud, considered a narcissist. His work now worth only puppet protagonists. Yet, sir, you are neither saint nor sinner, But a remarkably deep, integral thinker. The AQAL framework speaks for itself, A theoria and praxis of immeasurable help. No doubt Eros will prove you partial and true, But to those who claim they are "post-you" Your ideas and explanations ever compel, And give coherence to aperspectival hell. So for a lifetime of inspired study and thought We thank you for Kosmic lessons taught.
