Saul Williams and Nine Inch Nails Update: Survivalism

(Posted by Corey W. deVos)

It's been almost a year since we initially broke the story that Saul Williams will be working with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails on an upcoming album.  While we still haven't received any word about the status of that project, the fruits of their amazing collaboration are now beginning to show: a new Nine Inch Single called Survivalism features our very own Saul Williams!  Well, "feature" may be too strong of a word, but apparently his voice is indeed there somewhere in the background vocals.  The full single is due to be released on April 2, and the rumors are that it will feature some remixes created by Saul himself.  You can currently purchase Survivalism on iTunes, and can watch the video here on YouTube.

Survivalism is taken from NIN's upcoming album, Year Zero, which is scheduled to be released on April 17.  It is, in Trent's own words, "a soundtrack for a movie that doesn't exist," a dystopian concept-album taking place in the year 2022.  There are several leaked tracks currently floating around on the internet, apparently deliberately leaked by Trent, by leaving behind USB drives with audio tracks on them at several concerts.  There is no word whether Saul will be featured on any other tracks.

While waiting for more info about Saul and Trent's recent work together, be sure check out this video of Saul on stage with Nine Inch Nails, performing List of Demands.
